How do you do it?
People have asked me how I do it.
"How do you listen to all the
war-protesting morons and not just want to go postal on
them?"
I heard someone badmouthing the
war efforts one day. Then, the person noticed the yellow ribbon I wear daily,
pinned to my clothing by Geoff's Eagle Scout Mothers pin. Noticing that the
person
noticed, I said, "Its ok. I see that
you have learned to appreciate the freedom of speech that my son is fighting for
your right to have."
Many of those who
call themselves my friends have insinuated that my son has prostituted himself
to his government for a free college education. This is not true; he had a
string of scholarships as well as sufficient savings and resources that we have
set aside for him. And I look at the children of those who would call him names,
and I see kids who are not in college; kids who do not have jobs; kids with
psychoses and mental issues and neuroses; kids with alcohol and drug issues; you
name it.
Geoff is the good-est person I
know. I'll keep my son and his values and beliefs and his incredible strength,
thank you very much.
